My Mother
Going 110 mile per hour down the highway
as I relive through so many memories
Hearing, "Your mother is in the ER"
is a very scary thing.
I barely could think.
All that I was hoping for
was that she would make it.
As we arrive in the parking lot,
I think, "What would I ever do with out her?"
I imagine walking through every little part of the day with her gone;
it's too much to bare.
We walk in just as the doctors say
"Will have to be air-lifted to Sioux Falls"
Another memory sneaks up on me.
Seeing her lying in the emergency room bed
is just enough to push the tears over the brim of my eyelids.
We say our "I love yous" and race to the van.
The helicopter that brought my mother
was just leaving the heart hospital in Sioux Falls as we arrived.
Once again, set on high speed, we run inside.
She was in her room by the time my father and I were upstairs.
The doctor soon came in and explained everything
that was going to happen to our family.
In the next few weeks,
whether it was my mother having heart surgery
or the ER visits almost every other day,
I saw my mother's life be as fragile as a feather.
Many times I thought that she would leave me,
but she always pulled through.
My idol,
My mother
I love her so dearly.
